If you are a working professional and a beginning writer who has only dabbled in writing but has always wanted to write on a consistent basis, this may be the group for you. The purpose of this small group of 6-8 writers is to encourage you to write through meeting twice a month. We would share our work and provide constructive feedback to help each other improve. Any writing project you have in mind would work, whether it be non-fiction, fiction, or poetry.
There is a seemingly endless supply of books on the writing craft, so instead of feeling guilty because I'm working or doing the laundry instead of reading an enlightening book on the craft, I thought I'd set up an actual monthly time and place to fulfill this need and have writers to talk to about the book! We will read everything from books on writing fiction to poetry to screenwriting. Whatever catches our fancy that month. I'd like to find organizers in several areas of the city, then we can …

A place for writing professionals to connect, find and give encouragement, support each other's goals and set new ones. Walter Wellesley "Red" Smith said "there's nothing to writing. All you do is sit down at a typewriter and open a vein." Perhaps true. As happy many of us are to 'go it alone,' however, support and camaraderie of others who speak a similar language can't hurt. WPLA caters to novelists, journalists, bloggers, poets and other writers who take their craft and career in writing ser …

How often do you allow yourself to spend time reflecting, writing, doing artwork, and connecting with yourself and others? Reenter and rediscover the times in your life that you are most deeply connected to; those that have defined who you are and how you live. Identify the stories that only you can tell, and in telling them, begin to transform your present and future. We are looking for co-organizers to arrange no-cost Signs of Grace Writing Meetups in convenient locations, especially in Lon …

Hi my name is Christine Marie aka depodol & I've been writing since I was 15 years old... My New Year's Resolution for 2010 was to write more and hopefully have something published by the end of the year. I've learned that the only thing that REALLY motivates me are other writers that share the same passion for their writing talent, so I created this writer's group. This group's main purpose to bring aspiring writers together to share & motivate each other into a positive & productive direction. …

"Telling our stories is the only way we can claim ourselves, take control of our identity and re-frame it in a way that's truthful to our experience. This group is created specifically for Creative Writers, who know they have something beautiful, meaningful, or helpful to say, know (or may not know yet) that they are incredibly talented, can make the time for writing, yet somehow, something else seems to always get in the way. We all know how self-defeating procrastination can be, waiting for a better time ("when I have more hours, when I am less rushed, etc.") until the opportunity is lost, but also that procrastination is merely a habit. There are already plenty of writers' groups, but most of them are geared toward hobbyists rather than toward writers who think big (I know because I used to belong to three of them). If you're a self-published author having difficulty selling or promoting your work, or you're a writer who's frustrated by organizers who've told you what you are and aren't allowed to write, or you'd like to write and self-publish but are intimidated by the process, SPACE is for you. My name is Martin, and I've bee …

This is a weekly writer's group that meets every Wednesday pm somewhere on the East side. The usual writer's group stuff applies: we read & talk scripts, give each other coverage & notes , drink, nosh, laugh, cry, improve our writing chops. Each week, the focus is on one member. Their material (script, outline, character bio, whatever) is emailed out to the group who reads it then brings coverage, notes or any ideas they think will help the writer. This rotates but when it's your turn, if you …
We are a group of working actors, veteran actors and actors with writing careers who have come together to share our experience, acting craft expertise, professional knowledge and support so that we may all become better at what we love to do and at the business of doing it. By collaborating, we improve our craft on our own schedules without paying for expensive classes. Sharpening the actors tools, we focus on cold reading, audition techniques, on-camera techniques and improvisation. Our member …

getting together to discuss our stories, why we write, and how we can write with the Just One Book Project to fight for equal rights!
We meet monthly to give each other feedback and encouragement as we try to pursue publication for our writings. Members submit their writing one week prior to the meeting so that others can prepare written feedback that contains both positive comments and suggestions for improvement. The feedback is read aloud at the meeting and then given to the writer. From this format, our members are finding that they are learning how to improve their individual written work. Many of us are already published …
